Treatment Info

When it comes to orthodontic treatment, the options available today are the best they’ve ever been. In fact, Dr. Prine offers technologies that make having braces a great experience for everyone from young children to adults in their 70’s and 80’s. Treatment is now more esthetic, more comfortable and, at least as far as teens are concerned, more fun. Some patients choose options with brightly colored elastics that really help them show off their personality. Others choose one of our virtually invisible options, like Invisalign®, so they can improve their smiles without drawing attention to the fact they’re in treatment.

When you, or any member of your family, are ready to find out if orthodontic treatment is the right choice, choosing a doctor that understands how to design a treatment plan that works well with your life just makes sense. That means choosing a qualified specialist like Dr. Prine is one of the most important decisions you can make. You can find out more about our options here. Then, you can find out more about the best approach for you with a complimentary initial consultation.

Treatment for Younger Kids

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that young children have their first orthodontic evaluation around age 7. That's one of the reasons we offer a complimentary initial exam. It's a great way to find out if your child has biological, functional or space issues with their teeth and jaw so that their treatment plan can be the least invasive. Dr. Prine usually doesn't recommend treatment until the child has all of his or her adult teeth (around age 12), but in some instances, early treatment can have a positive impact. At Prine Orthodontics, we love working with kids at this early stage. We believe we can help them get on the road to loving their smile and taking great care of their teeth, for a lifetime of good dental health. Even kids who aren't ready for treatment will receive an annual appointment to check their growth and make sure that, if treatment is needed, they'll get started at the optimal time.

Options for Adolescents

Depending on your age, you might have a less than glowing memory about getting braces, but for most adolescents today, having braces is a right of passage. They can't wait to go to the orthodontist and actually want to get braces. The benefits of treatment (true at any age) seem especially helpful to kids at this pivotal time in their lives:
  • improved dental health
  • increased self-confidence
  • social acceptance
Our options for adolescents include metal braces, tooth-colored braces, colorful elastics, devices that help us expand (widen) their smile, devices that help us move their jaw into its proper position and more. And most of these orthodontic appliances (as we call them) are designed to work inside their mouth, without requiring any compliance from the patient and without drawing undue attention to their treatment.

Teen & Adult Treatment

Whether you choose metal or clear braces, hidden braces or Invisalign, at Prine Orthodontics you’ll have the benefit of Customized Smile Design. Like fingerprints, your smile is unique - and so is our computerized system that combines digital orthodontic treatment planning with specially made brackets and wires tailored to your specific dental anatomy. It's called Insignia, and it's one of several leading edge treatment approaches available here. The process is simple. First, we take a digital scan of your teeth. Then, imaging software translates that into a 3-D representation of your bite. Using Dr. Prine’s diagnosis and treatment plan, your braces and wires are custom-fabricated. You get your new smile!

The Invisalign® System straightens your teeth without wires and brackets, using a series of clear, customized, removable aligners. It's virtually invisible, which means you can straighten your teeth without announcing it to the world. Invisalign moves your teeth in small steps to the desired final position. Each of your aligners is precisely customized to fit your mouth at each stage of the treatment plan. You switch to a new set of aligners every couple of weeks and only remove the to eat, brush and floss. Before you know it you’ll be smiling like you never have before! At your complimentary consultation, you can find out if Invisalign is a good option for you. It’s one of a number of virtually undetectable options we offer.
